Modern Slavery Statement
Merton Movers Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Merton Movers has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or our supply chains. Merton Movers is committed to operating ethically, transparently, and with integrity in all our business dealings.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
Merton Movers has a clear zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour. We will not knowingly engage with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. All employees, contractors, and suppliers are expected to uphold this commitment and to act in a way that supports human rights and fair working conditions.
Our zero-tolerance approach is embedded in our internal policies, our supplier expectations, and our day-to-day decision-making. We are committed to taking decisive action where any risk or actual instance of modern slavery is identified, including ending business relationships where necessary.
Governance and Responsibility
The senior management team at Merton Movers is responsible for overseeing our efforts to prevent modern slavery. They ensure that relevant policies are kept up to date, that risks are monitored, and that any concerns are investigated promptly. Managers throughout the business are required to promote compliance with this statement and to escalate any signs of potential exploitation.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Merton Movers recognises that the greatest risk of modern slavery often lies within extended supply chains. We therefore expect all suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners to share our values and to adhere to all applicable labour and human rights laws in the countries where they operate.
We communicate our expectations to suppliers as part of our onboarding and contract management processes. Where appropriate, we carry out risk-based due diligence and supplier audits to assess labour practices, working conditions, and compliance with our standards. These audits may include reviewing documentation, conducting site visits, and speaking with workers where it is safe and appropriate to do so.
If a supplier is found to be falling short of our requirements, we will work with them to address and remediate the issues within a reasonable timeframe. Where serious or repeated non-compliance is identified, Merton Movers reserves the right to suspend or terminate the relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
Merton Movers aims to foster a culture where concerns relating to modern slavery can be raised without fear of retaliation. Employees receive guidance on recognising the signs of exploitation, such as withholding of passports, restriction of movement, inappropriate recruitment fees, or excessive working hours under threat.
Any employee, contractor, or third party who has concerns about potential modern slavery linked to our operations or supply chains is encouraged to report this to line management or senior management. Reports can be made verbally or in writing and will be treated seriously, sensitively, and, where possible, confidentially. We will investigate all reports and take appropriate action, including involving relevant authorities where required.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Merton Movers is committed to continually improving its approach to identifying and tackling modern slavery risks. We review our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence procedures on a regular basis to ensure they remain effective and proportionate to the nature and scale of our business.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and approved by senior management at least once every year. As part of the annual review, we consider changes in our operations, emerging risk areas, feedback from employees and suppliers, and developments in legislation and best practice. Any necessary updates are then implemented and communicated across the business.
This statement reflects Merton Movers ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking and to conducting business in a way that respects the dignity and rights of all people.
